TV Media Walls: What You Need to Know
A flat-screen TV mounted on a bare wall with visible cables, a soundbar balanced on brackets and a tangle of HDMI leads is the most common eyesore in modern living rooms. A bespoke media wall solves every one of these problems while creating a stunning architectural feature.
Bear Brothers designs and builds custom media walls that integrate your television, sound system, gaming consoles, streaming devices and storage into a single cohesive piece. All cables are concealed within the structure, all equipment is ventilated, and everything is accessible for upgrades without dismantling the wall.
We build media walls in a range of styles — from contemporary floating panels with LED backlighting to traditional panelled walls with cabinet storage. Every design is proportioned to your room and your TV, not pulled from a generic template.
Whether you want a floor-to-ceiling feature wall or a compact floating unit, we design around your equipment, your storage needs and your room's architecture.
Why Your Current TV Setup Is Holding Your Room Back
Visible cables
The number one complaint about wall-mounted TVs. Cables trailing to power sockets, HDMI runs across skirting boards and loose wires behind furniture make even expensive televisions look cheap.
No storage integration
Separate TV units, soundbar mounts and media boxes create a cluttered, fragmented wall. Nothing aligns, nothing matches and the overall effect is messy.
Poor sound integration
Soundbars perched on brackets or balanced on shelves look afterthought. Built-in speaker grilles and subwoofer housings create clean, integrated audio.
Equipment overheating
Consoles, receivers and streaming boxes enclosed without ventilation overheat and fail prematurely. Our designs include passive or active ventilation for every component.
Room feels incomplete
A bare wall with a mounted TV is the visual equivalent of an unfinished room. A media wall creates the focal point that ties the living room together.
How We Work
Room Survey & Equipment Audit
We measure your wall, note socket positions and list every piece of equipment you use or plan to add. We photograph the room to design in context.
Design & Visualisation
3D renders show the media wall in your room — with your TV size, your speaker positions and your chosen finish. We iterate until the design is exactly right.
Cable Planning
We design the internal cable routing so every connection is accessible but invisible. Power, HDMI, optical, ethernet and speaker cables all have dedicated channels.
Manufacture
Built in our workshop from a combination of birch plywood (structural) and MDF (painted panels). CNC-cut for precision alignment of TV recesses, speaker grilles and equipment shelves.
Installation & Setup
Installed on site, cabled up and tested. We leave your system working — not just the furniture fitted.
Why Choose Bear Brothers
Zero Visible Cables
Every cable — power, HDMI, optical, ethernet — runs inside the wall structure. The only visible element is the screen itself.
Integrated Sound
Built-in speaker housings, soundbar recesses and subwoofer enclosures designed for your specific audio equipment.
Equipment Ventilation
Concealed ventilation channels keep consoles, receivers and streaming devices cool without visible grilles on the face of the unit.
Ambient Lighting
LED backlighting, shelf lighting and accent strips create atmosphere and reduce eye strain during evening viewing.
Storage Behind Doors
Games, DVDs, controllers, remotes and cables stored behind closed doors or in pull-out drawers — keeping the wall clean and organised.
Future-Proof Design
Removable back panels and oversized cable channels allow easy equipment upgrades without dismantling the structure.
Media Wall Styles
Contemporary floating media walls are mounted on concealed bracket systems with no visible contact to the floor — creating a dramatic hovering effect with LED lighting underneath. The TV is either recessed flush or mounted on an articulating bracket behind a panel.
Full-height panelled walls run floor to ceiling and wall to wall, creating an entire feature wall with the TV as the centrepiece. Flanking cabinets provide extensive storage while maintaining symmetry and visual weight.
Alcove media walls are designed for rooms with chimney breasts — filling the alcoves either side with storage while creating a recessed TV mount above the fireplace or within the breast itself.
Electric Fireplace Integration
Many clients combine a media wall with an electric fireplace — creating a luxury hotel-style feature. We build recesses for popular electric fire inserts (Dimplex, Gazco, Evonic) with appropriate ventilation and clearance distances.
The combination of fire, TV and ambient lighting in one architectural unit transforms a living room more dramatically than almost any other single improvement.
Sound System Integration
We design media walls to accommodate everything from basic soundbars to full surround-sound systems. Sonos, Samsung, Bose and B&O systems each have specific housing requirements — we design around your chosen equipment.
For ceiling-mounted Atmos speakers or in-wall surrounds, we can provide the joinery for speaker housings that integrate with the media wall's design language, creating a cohesive system.
